Discuss Plug Socket Showing Up Without An Earth in the DIY Electrical Advice area at ElectriciansForums.net

just a quick update for you all.

had a sparky to test the socket and it has an earth in it so I have no idea what this so called 'technician' was using to test the socket.

The company are about to have a ear full off myself and the sparky said to claim back the cost of calling out an electrician so im going to do it.

did your sparky actually test the socket with an instrument or just remove socket to see if physically there was an earth wire?

You cant do an accurate socket test with a plug in socket tester ,some will give you a live earth reverse when its lost a neutral they are not accurate they do have there uses buy should be used with care and not relied on only a proper tester should be used for this purpose
