Thought it about time to introduce myself as I have been around the forum for a while lurking in the background.

When a teenager, my old man had a building firm and insisted I worked on one of the sites during holidays, to save scrounging off of him.

I looked around one of his rain sodden sites and noticed that the only dry people were, spreads, plumbers & sparks. Now the first albeit dry were covered in white powdery stuff and looked like they were extras in a scooby doo cartoon, the second when I studied closely was elbow deep in a toilet - Mmmm! not quite the thing I wished to relate stories about when I returned to education after the holiday, so decided to pick on some poor electrician who had to show the governers son 'the trade'.

Anyway, fell in love with the trade from day 1 and spent as much time as possible learning the trade, holidays, weekends, skiving the lot. Speant a few years doing that until I moved across to electronics, yep, TV's, video's, followed by computers and dvd etc.

Now some 30 odd years later, started 'doing' up the house so went back to college, updated to 17th edition, part 'p' etc, with the intention of just doing my own and family friends house. Did not realise how much I missed it, got the bug again and now going back on the tools. Yes, I know I still have loads to catch up on over the years, but I have not felt this enthused since I first picked on that poor electrician all those years ago.

I know there are those on here who say it is not as good as it used to be, the money is not that great, not treated with respect etc. By hey, it is the best trade by far. Anyway that's me.

Hi and welcome.I too went back to the trade after years of being a top telly engineer and all that. Its a lot better now with all the power tools and fancy test gear you can play with.

Hi & welcome. :)
