Hi all. So with a bit of time on my hands I've decided to do the self assessment 2019-2020 return be my self. For the first time!

I have paid cis as a subcontractor in this year - in the eyes of the HMRC does this count as having a business? Being an improver a few agencies have put me on a PAYE umbrella stating that they can not pay the cis unless I'm fully qualified. Is this a new change in law? As I've never had this problem before. It's fair to say that they would take a huge chunk of my wage weekly, which is leaving me feeling like I'm being robbed in day light.

Appreciate your help.

The best thing to do is get an accountant to sort it out for you.
Accountants make up for their fees in the money you can save off of your tax bill.
