I recently became the not so proud owner of an mso56 ocilliscope. It is more complex than my wife. It is in great condition barely used if at all. I think my late father paid something like 30k for it a little over a year ago. But then tragically passed 6 months later. I (his only son) was the estate beneficiary. Within the estate is the ocilliscope. Probably the only thing that I don't need or even if I did, I don't know how to use it. I would like to see it go to someone who could use it. I'm willing to sell it or trade it to the right person. We can discuss cost. I'm honestly letting it go for next to nothing. Just inquire...thanks in advance

Here is a picture of the MSO56. I'm not sure if my father even got to use it...

Lovely bit of kit. A bit specialised though, and i think you are unlikely to get a fair price for it on here.

Hi Mushumadness
I think the number of end users wanting such equipment to use themselves is very small, so trying to find a worthy individual or organisation who you would be pleased to have it is a big ask.
On the other hand there will be lots of people wanting to make a quick buck by offering you peanuts and hoping to sell it on, including those who might try to convince you they want it for themselves!

In your situation I would approach reputable companies who deal in test equipment, who should give you a fair price as they know the market and may have customers waiting for such items, and it would get to an organisation or individual who needs it. There seem to be several test equipment companies in your area of the world, including one below (have no personal experience of them).

Might be worth checking out this route?
Best wishes

A local struggling engineering teaching college or the like might be glad of it for a fair price, and you have the satisfaction that you will have helped a lot of people.

As above, don't take silly offers. I'd recomend calling a company that hires/sells professional test gear.

Having said that, I'll give you £300 ?

Its priced at £11700 at RS Components, so easy worth £5-£6K if it has a calibration cert.

Tektronix advertise it as being aimed at electronic power supply design and analysis, so useful in the commercial world in design departments etc. Of course it does loads of stuff, but I'd be surprised if academia would make best use of it! ?

I did not open the link to be honest , I just thought the OP might like his Dad's legacy to help those with the same interest or passion that he had.
