It does not even require an earth connection...which it shares with reality...as in,no earthly connection,whatsoever 
Would be worth a call,to the supplier,if they speak our language,to ask how it functions.
Reminds me of a jape,i was involved in,many years back...I have a lot of friends involved in the equestrian job,and the big magazines,all ran adverts for expensive,therapeutic horse rugs,which purported to be beneficial,due to having powerful magnets,fitted within their construction.
They cured everything,and were promoted by testimonials,describing their many virtues.
I rang the supplier,to question just how they worked,and where these statements could be reviewed and examined. I got passed,slowly,up the chain,to increasingly senior,and increasingly stuttering,individuals...with no explanation or proof.
At the terminal end,of this retail-coursing event,the exasperated MD,asked me "why was it important to know?"
I told him that i had purchased and fitted one to my horse,which was now stuck to an electricity pylon,in my field...with the fire-brigade attending,butter in hand 
He twigged,and his last sentence,was to ask me why i had "felt the need,to make up such a stupid story..."
I answered "for the same reason you commissioned your advert..."
