hi i tested a domestic property earlier, and someone has sunk the meter tails, the fb is a 17th edition,my question what size external rcd is required for the meter tails, its a pme system, many thanks

"sunk the meter tails"????? more info. needed.

if you mean that the tails are buried in plaster < 50mm deep, you need a 30mA RCD. that buggers you up as regards discrimination.

its not an option, they don't want the wall disturbed,so does it have to be a time delayed rcd

a time delay would not comply. you say you.ve tested the installation. code C3 ( 522.6.101 ) END OF.

theres no mechanical protection to them buried tails.....
so where you getting time delayed from?....
look, you have obviously made your mind up so you go do what you want....

They are askjing you to do something contrary to the regs. So it's a no-go. To comply with 522.6.101, you would need to fit a 30ma non-delay rcd. This would mean you'd have 2 similar rcds in series. Basically you're snookered.

tell them NO,NO,NO. you work to regs. regs. say notee puttee 2 similarloee rcds in the series configurationone, so you don't.
