Old Wylex rewireable cu, upfront RCD TT.
Client wants couple of extra sockets on kitchen circuit, running off extension reels at the moment.
if I put in extra sockets, do I need to bring cu upto regs as regards to division of circuits 314 etc. still not got me head round this bring circuits upto standard.

No you dont, just make sure your wiring and socket protective devices are upto current regs but do make a note on the certficate that whole installation is covered by single rcd.

You say up front RCD TT, if this is 100ma only then you will need 30ma for the ring main. In theory it may be best to change the consumer unit to a split board as I am assuming there is more than one ring circuit, this way you can put the ring circuits across seperate 30ma units, gives you some discrimination,
Cheers.

just carry on the ring from the other sockets you have in the kicthen and carry out a minor works cert for it, theres not alot to it really as you have the circuit protection covered with your RCD
