hi every one

new build we done about 6 months ago, had a call to say that the door bell does ding but doesnt dong.... called in today, the chime is 8 - 16v got a 8v tranny which actually gives 10.5v. when push button is pressed the voltage drops to 7.9v but the ding just doesnt sound right. checked continuity on switch wire and had a reading of 2ohms which i think sounds ok, also by passed push button and still the same, also tried changing the chime. maybe i need a higher voltage tranny? just wondering if anyone has had any problems like this?

got a roll of high-impedance bell wire once-had fun with that:mad:

that was 7.9 at the trafo when the push is pressed?

i would look at the trafo probably if the bell run checks out ok

I would reckon reckon spring tension and lubrication are the problems, especially if it once worked. Check for ladybirds and dead spiders;)

I had one recently where they had ding - dong for the front door and dong only for the back door [no pun intended!!!]

On completion of the PIR I got the ding - dong and the dong only mixed up [ding - dong at the back and dong only at the front. Took a while to sort it out.

An hour later they told me the door bells were battery powered and not from a mains transformer - thanks!
