Hi All,

I have to change an earth electrode/rod because of high Ze (365ohms).

What certification should be issued?

My niceic inspector once told me that a full EIC should be issued for this just like for a new consumer unit etc is that right?

The reason i ask is beacuse the house i'm working on is quite large with bit added on and a swimming pool etc and it would prob take me a whole day to do an EIC for the whole install! Dont think the customer would want to pay for that.

What would you guys do?
Any help would be much appreciated
Many thanks:)

He may be correct ,in that the main earth and its reading affects the readings of all circuits
To do a full Eic for just an earth rod would probably mean, not many new earth rods would be changed,

I would fit the new rod or rods, take a reading from the consumer unit,if it now is within the 200 ohms , issue a minor works certificate, collect my money and go home
We have to live and compete in the real world

you could try wetting the rod and surrounding earth and then take a Ze reasding

Thanks for the replys guys. I cant see the rod the cable goes straight down through a concrete path!

that doesn't comply then. the connection should be accessible. think a new rod put in right. think then MWC would cover it.
