Thanks for the feedback gents and ladies if there are any.

I had't looked at using SWA as I thought that the price would be prohibitive. However looking at the catalogue its only £1.12 per meter which is only a bit more expensive than as the T&E + Conduit, however the glands would increase this. Mechanical protection isn't a big issue since the conduit will be run at approx 4 meters high on the exterior of the property.

I have charged VAT because the prices quoted from the wholesalers is before VAT is added which I will obviously have to pay. I might be taking a bit of a liberty adding VAT onto the labour but this will cover the sundries other posts have mentioned.

In which case you could use HiTuff.

And don't show VAT on the estimate seperately of you could get HMRC giving you a call as you are not VAT registered and therefore your estimate is a misrepresentation.

One of the other lads will probably advise you (im not VAT reg), but I think its an offence to charge VAT when your not VAT reg.

Remember PVC conduit doesn't look too great after a few years of our wonderful weather :)

If you are not Vat registered you can not add Vat to the customers bill! What you can do is charge the customer the price you paid for the materials. i.e. including Vat. In fact you can charge anything you like for materials. Then add on your labour fees.

If you want to charge Vat you can register. Problem is then any domestic work you do is 20% more expensive then a competitor that isn't Vat registered!!! If your Turnover above £77,000 you legally have to register for Vat!! You need to look into Vat to understand how it works.

No Vat number, no additional Vat can be charged to customer. Remember HMRC can be a very powerful enemy! Just ask Glasgow FC! Don't mess with them.

Too cheap - use SWA- dont show VAT as seperate item ( they will want to claim it back ) I would photo cell and timer ( photo cell on - timer off )
