how to run cables prior to dot and dab dry lining

Im to run cables in a renovation/new build which has stone walls on the outside then block work inner skin which is to be dry lined using dot and dab, should the cables be covered with channelling or conduit prior to the dot and dab being done or are they better just being left open and clipped to the wall..all constructive comments are appreciated as this is new too me. Cheers

Thanks for link it'll come in handy, I am aware of the regs I am curious of opinion of people who actually do it day in day out what they find to be the best way for them eg clipped to wall or within conduit/trunking.

I always put them in something, as it keeps the job tidy and is easier to fix to wall, especially if the walls are thermalite

I use channelling where possible
Neat,cheap, quick/easy to fit
Its possible to replace cable if the need arises without tugging at and breaking cable clips also the cables would no longer be fixed

I also use a bit of oval, easy to use and cheap, plus if you ever have to rewire, the cables should come out very easily.

I would suggest conduit as it will make it easier to re-wire or pull in extra cables in the future.

I always clip direct to the wall when they are going to dot and dab the walls. the only time i would generally use capping etc is if they are going to wet plaster the walls. there is no need to eart the capping that im aware of, (please correct that and explain if im wrong) if the cables are run in the "safe zones" and are rcd protected etc.

as for future rewire, cross that path if/when you come to it, (has anyone done a rewire in a property they have previously rewired??)
