Right Chaps my very limited exposure in this area is now coming to an end..

to that end what is the best way to remove the knockouts on a Metal CU, (obviously a nice sized Holesaw HSS style) but any body have any particular make that they find good and long lasting...!

reason for my asking is i just clicked on to screw fix site and presented with about 50 million types and makes...!!

some knockouts are just that: Knockouts. use a hammer and your biggest "dont mind hitting" screwdriver. other than that, i like bosch or starret

staret holesaws but knockouts should just knock out watch how hard you hit tho depending how heavy your cu is some cheaper thin ones can warp if you hit the knockout to hard specialy the ones with multipal sizes ie 32 with a 25 inside and a 20inside that Other than that go Knock your self out!

To remove knockouts I use a small cold chisel, a centre punch or a screwdriver where the blade goes right through the handle and is designed to be hit with a hammer depends what comes to hand first

For holesaws it's starrett used them for many years only ever had one faulty one they seem to last forever

I find sometimes the knockouts are slightly too small for the thread of a gland or bush etc, to go through without mangling threads so I always have a cone cutter handy.

Also handy if you need a 25 or 32mm knockout and they're only 20mm punched ones.

16-30mm Conecut Taper Drill

I second the starretts don't use anything else, though Ultra are quite good comparatively. As for knock outs, bashing driver and hammer usually dispatches them for me. If I'm being gentle I tape the edge of the knock out with the driver just hard enough so it makes a slight gap on the inside then get a thin flat blade in and bend it up then just waggle it with some long nose plies until you fatigue the metal enough.
