recently finished 1st fixing of large house, wired bathrooms usual way, switch outside the door and fan isolator up high, fan switched to come on with light, usual way, now they tell me they want dimmers on bathroom lights, if I put dimmer in now it will be operating fan also, unless of course you isolate the fan when using dimmer but this is not practical solution for average person, any suggestions?

I must be unusual, because I never have them switched by the light, why have the need for light to become the control for ventilation,it never made sense to me, so I never ever do it that way

If the customer did happen to have that method in mind,it does not take long to explain the error of their ways

guess you could use a humidity sensor?
also for some fans could be wrong but the s/l into the fan is only a trigger for the timer?

most fans will work fine with dimmers.

they usually start up with the dimmer even on its lowest setting.

some are more sensitive than others.

some only come on once the dimmer is at full brightness

Agree, very wasteful for lights to have to be on when fan on. Daz
