Discuss Patio Heaters through contactor? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi all,

Had a customer who has 2x 1.5kw patio heaters.

He is looking for these to be switched separately, in an ideal world this would be from a 2G Master seal switch.

Now obviously the loading is an issue. I was thinking of maybe using 2x din rail contactors in an enclosure as the db is very near by.

My question is whats the best way of wiring this? Still trying to get my head round contactors/relays.

Many thanks for any help

Jeff

Each heater is pulling about 6A and most outdoor switches are rated at 20A (though the masterseal ones are rated at 10A so just less than twice your loading) therefore just wire the heaters directly through the switches.
Putting in a contactor for that sort of load is just overkill.
