I have now switched off all the circuit breakers in the house bar the one in the garage and the treadmill operates now without tripping. So I think the problem is the treadmill is exceeding the earth leakage when everything else is switched on.
To counter this could I remove the earth wire from the plug, and attach a copper wire to the metal frame of the machine which attaches to an earth spike driven into the ground, protecting the user from any stray current and effectively bypassing the RCD on the treadmill only?
Thanks
