with regards to rewires is mechanical protection required ,

istall obviously has rcd protection so i believe not and also doesnt require to be 50mm in depth from surface ??

Yes,mechanical protection is always required if there is a chance the cables can get damaged
Now,you then have to ask the question, is it liable to be damaged in a dwelling ?

Probably not, unless there lives a lunatic going around whacking things with his sledgehammer,but that would mean there is more to worry about than installing the cables

you are not at the level of understanding required at this moment in time to be undertaing rewires...

the basic lack of understanding of what constitutes additional protection is evidence of this...
