I have an assignment for my 2365.
Question asks to list 3 methods of connection that may be used during the installation of an apartment block and a workshop.

I have screw clamping terminals for accessories.
I have screw-less terminals as an alternative.
What else?
Would compression terminations such as cable lugs or crimps be used? If so, where? Does SWA use that kind of termination?

Small SWA cables can be terminated in your 1st and 2nd choices, larger SWA cables can require crimped lugs, for example Bus Bar chambers, large items of switchgear etc, crimped through ferrules can also be used in jointing SWA cores

Would it be a reasonable assumption that large items of switchgear would be needed in a workshop?

Depends on the size of the workshop and what sort of work is being done in the workshop, your profile is a bit vague are you a trainee?

We haven't been told what sort of work is being done, we have to make 'reasonable assumptions consistent with economic considerations and conducive to the most practical design solutions'. Sorry yes I am a trainee, I am studying C&G 2365 Level 3.

Well, make a statement/assumption that this is a large engineering workshop that has a bus bar chamber an associated switchgear, you can then use the information I have provided, crimped connections on the bus bar and switchgear. The underground joint scenario could be attributed to a damaged SWA feeding an out building.

Thankyou, power to the workshop is supplied via an SWA from a nearby building that must go underground, so that answer would be perfect.

You re welcome, have you applied to post in the trainee forum? you could get more help there.

Is the question actually referring to these types of terminal ''connection'' in the first place??

It's all very vague at the moment!!

Couldn't agree more, the questions are very vague, the only reason I knew which kind of connections they were talking about is because it mentions them in the book from C&G I am studying. There are 5 listed;
screw clamping
screw-less
compression terminations
soldered lugs
and cable resin joints

My installation is a complete re-wire of block of flats, and new installation of nearby workshop on the same grounds.
