Re: Didn't get the job.. Am I too expensive?

I would say about £800 to £1200 depends on the size.
I had the same the other week, I post an thread below yours called (price for a rewire).
I quoted £3500 for the job she then got three other quotes £2200, £2300 and £2800. She said that I was tiring to rip her off. Also got a call from another customer for outside light yesterday quoted £80 he then informed me that a electrician had just quoted £25 .So I've no idea any more what price to put in on any jobs.

Its an absolute joke!! People quoting stupidly low prices, I'm not going to lower my prices to cowboy rates for no one. We've all got to stick to what were worth, As soon as fully qualified registered sparks start lowering there prices to cowboy rates then we dont stand a chance, (which some already have) I cant make a living off that..
Paying all my yearly fee's out and slogging my guts out for £60-£80 a day. I aint doing it!! But this is all customers
seem to be prepared to pay. Charge more and they think there being ripped off!

(Rant over, I had to release my anger!)

im with you magic sid people make me sick expecting a fully qualified and nic approved sparky to work for muppet money, i had a lady ring me up wanting bedroom conversion wiring sockets, lights etc i told her 200 complte with eic and all parts and labour but no thy want it done for a tenner lol

£1500 sounds about right, but dont forget there are regional variations, and different sparks have different costs to factor in and, like it or not, there ARE a lot of fast track and even time served sparkies out there who are willing to work for a lot less, just to get the work.

So what was YOUR quote?

He was an old work mate for 7 years so tried to help him out as much as i could. Not a huge kitchen, I've put in £850 for him. I'd of thought around £1200 would of been about right. He's done me favours in the past years, But he's having cheaper quotes!!!

Sometimes i've priced work, then droped a ------- and not taken everything into account.. Then pretty glad when you dont get the job because it wouldnt of been worth your while. Maybe this job is one of those.

"actively shaping past, present, and future experiences"

In other words, it was meant to be.

I think £850 is about bang on for that work, £1200 is a lot of moneyin the midlands a house rewire is going at around £1650
