1st Stupid mistake of 2012...

Just this past week I was doing a job that required 8 dual dry lining boxes and 3 2 gang boxes to be installed. Thought I was being clever by making myself a small cardboard template which I used to mark out the hole size required on the wall. Completely forgot that dual boxes are wider than 2 gangs, and used the same template for those holes too. I felt like a right one, I can tell you :wacko:

To be honest, i'v always used the equivilent metal box as they fit a treat and are in abundance!!

if your template was for standard 2 gang boxes, all you have to do is enlarge the holes. if the other way round, hard luck.

It was hard luck.... Had to then go around sticking small batons inside the holes to hold the bit of PB I was sticking back in. Once filled and painted you'd never have known, but it just turned a simple job into a pain in the derriere.

The only ones I've seen don't do 'duals' just doubles and singles, but if you know of one that does I'd be interested.

just mark out a double then add a bit to suit

agree with growler. use a 2 gang box as template and for the dual boxes , add a bit on the side ( we all like a bit on the side, matron )

MY FIRST MISTAKE OF 2012 WAS TRAVELING 3HRS ONLY TO BE TOLD BY TENANT THAT NOONE HAD ARRANGED IT AND IT WAS "INCONVIENIENT" TRAVEL TO OTHER JOB DO IT THEN BACK UP TO DIGS AS i HAD A JOB NEAR KNOCKED BACK ONE . GOT UP NEXT DAY GOT PERMITS SORTED THEN OFF TO TUESDAY JOB ONLY FOR THE GUY TO GO TO WORK 15MINS BEFORE I ARRIVED ffs gAFFER WASNT BEST PLEASED WITH THE PERSON WHO MADE ARRANGEMENTS AS THE 2 JOBS WERE C.U CHANGES AND WE HAD LEFT CLIENT TO ARRANGE ACCESS AT LEAST I GOT SOME NICE SENIC DRIVING UP THE REST N B THANKFUL AND CRACKIN GRUB AT GALLEYS OF LORNE HOTEL
IN TOTAL OVER THE 2 DAYS I DID 14 HRS DRIVING 8HRS WORK LOL
