Have a customer with a converted outbullding next to main house, 2 electric meters one for each building.

What are the issues in installing 32 panels on the outbuilding, with 2 inverters one to each electric meter / consumer unit - bascially running a cable to the nearby house supply (all equipment located on the outbuilding).

I know a G83/1/2 would be required, and we are fudging the curtilage Curtilage - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia aspect of permitted development - that we are claiming it's one property for permitted planning puposes and then 2 seperate projects for FiT 4kw tariff and DNO reg.

I'm thinking this could fly as a project, but it's so many shades of grey i suspect its going to bite us in the --- if we do go ahead.

When it comes to claiming the fit it will be same postcode, same address, same owner and I would expect them to cry foul.

There is a good chance the 2 meters are on different phases so you can keep it a stage 1 installation (16A per phase). All on one roof will make it economical to install so tell the customer not to be greedy.

Regards
Bruce

I'd suggest that you check the postal addresses and also MPAN details - and then check with the customer's energy supplier.

From the bit of investigation I've done on similar proposed installations the sum of the two installations would be accumulated and for tariff purposes the installation would be considered 1 x 8kwp, I'm afraid.

I have just dug this up from a old email and think it is still relevant ?

Firstly see article 12 on the FITs Order (http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2010/pdf/uksi 20100678 en.pdf ) requires the determination of the 'site' of the eligible installation . The definition of 'site' is provided in Schedule A of Standard Licence Condition 33 (Electricity Supply Licence - Full set of Consolidated SLCs).
Happy reading , been a while since i last last looked at it but from memory the gist of it is no !
