I have - they work well with fridges as the motor will still work well but are useless with heaters as it will drop the wattage and in turn the output. Did a job on a hotel that saved £5k per year by using these so ROI is pretty good.
 
BTW - you should also check is the electric companies will offer a lower pricing tier with this installed on premisses. They like them as the prevent surges.
 
would that be the case with all equiptment with heating elements (cooker, shower, toaster, george foreman etc)
 
yes - depending on how far you drop the voltage it will affect these appliances. They are brilliant for fridges and anything pump driven though
