Evening

went to look at a cafe today- existing lights are twin 58w fluorescent fittings on chains dropped from the ceiling slightly.

Its quite dark in there- doesn't help with having black ceilings!

she wants to get rid of the the fluorescent fittings- and go for spotlights...

I explained the you cant really have these suspended on jacks- like how they already are- and these will need to me fixed to the ceiling (so slightly higher than the lights currently are)

https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/GLSP3C.html

these are what I am thinking of using- 110w to replace 112w- but at-least the spots will be more of a directed light

the supplies are flex's from klik roses- and stuffing glands into the flu fittings...

any advise on how to neatly take the flex into the spot fitting base- with no access from above!

cheers guys

You could think about track lighting so that it's easy to add more fittings when she finds that there's not enough light.

Could convert the existing fluorescent fittings to LED... Thats what i dod in my kitchen.

I'd try to install light fittings which complement the decor and style of the cafe. Maybe consider wall lights, or picture lights, but essentially you need to light up the food on the tables.
Do you have a photograph of the cafe?

Some ideas here. http://www.thelightingsite.com/ar111_surface_mount.htm
You could suspend these on Jack chain
