cost of repair
downtime
cost of downtime
availability of replacement
time of repair
the place where our motors go usually takes a week to be rewound some people rather have a replacement as the cost of downtime may cost more than the job if its done say next day

factors favoring repair over replacement.

unavailability of replacement . ( due perhaps to age of motor, or a rare one ). cost of replacement if it's a special order.

Nowadays it's wise to invest in new (improved) tools rather than spending money, energy & time in repairing the faulty one. At the end of the day it works out to be economical too.

It all comes down to cost, there’s no other way of looking at it.
If you’re daft enough to have an odd bod process critical motor then more fool you, live with the consequences.

The first company I worked for I could go in to stores and choose from over 1000 spare motors, anything from FHP to 2500HP all there on the shelf. OK that was Nirvana to the maintenance man, a nightmare for the accountants.
