Hi All, some advice required please. I am in telecomms but need to have some wiring work done by a sub-con but want to check it's ok first.

I need to install 6 CB's but have no room in the MDB:
MDB = MCB63A with SPD, 2x16A, 2x6A (one of the 16A is spare)

Can I install an ACPDB next to the MDB to extend the CB's?
Plan is to install a 32A CB in the MDB in the existing 16A (swap 16A to 32A)

Wire the 32A CB in MDB to a main CB in the PDB of 32A and then have 6xCB in the PDB for equipment. (equipment is less than 4A each unit)
Wire the PE and N bars direct to between the MDB and PDB

Does that sound clear enough? and is it ok to do just like that or is a new mains in cable needed and a completely new MDB (expensive)

Thanks for anything in advance

The subby spark will be able to work this out for you but going by the info your best option is to split the tails using the correct size tails to a new cu/db. Need to make sure the main incomer csa is large enough to handle any extra load your putting in. Ps welcome to the forum.

Thanks Paul,

I'm not in the UK just now so don't know how things are named back in the real world but the boxes are physically labelled MDB and PDB from the factory so it seems thats how they do it here. MDB always has surge protection from what I've seen so far.

As for the sub sparky, he probably did a month training course on power in his career training :)

Is this an indoor or outdoor one?

Sorry, it probablly doesn't make any odds whether it's indoor or outdoor.
Your proposed method appears quite acceptable.

Automated Civilian Personnel Data Bank is the only internationally accepted acronym for ACPDB :bigear:
