Back box spacers or links

I know I’ve seen them before…. But I can’t think of a name.

I’m needing a line of metal back boxes in a kitchen… 2 lots of 2x 2 gang and a 1 gang. I just want them to look evenly spaced.

I could do it with a couple of brass bushes and a steel conduit coupling, but I’m sure I’ve seen a plastic alternative that just clips into the knockout hole???

If there is something like that… I can’t find it on cities website.

No... Looks like these are for european round back boxes.

I use plastic bushes and couplers for uniform spacing

that was my first thought... 20mm pvc female adaptors... but seem to be quite far apart unless i cut down the adaptors a bit

Now to find them locally off the shelf... I havent tried Screwfix yet, actually.

Surely it would be simpler and cheaper to use what you have to hand? Galv coupler and bushes of some description or a few seconds to cut down PVC adaptors and couple them with a short piece of conduit.

I find the knock outs in the steel boxes don't tend to line up perfectly, so using bushes + couplers for this sometimes leads to boxes that aren't quite level with one another. You might find the same with those connectors too.

Between boxes of the same or different brand?

It's not a problem I've ever encountered, albeit with limited experience, but nothing would surprise me these days.

Same brand. It's only a few mm, but can be enough to see the difference once installed

That’s the whole point of this… to have 3 boxes close together, spaced equally, fixed together and in a nice level straight line.

Nah, the Spacer connectors are good and there is a bit of wiggle room if the knockouts don't quite line up! I bought some of both sizes and use them often!
Be careful if using the shorter ones as some flat plate is too wide for the gap left by the spacer.
