that has to be about the worst one i've ever seen.

I was laughing, I said it was basically invalid as it was incomplete so there was no real way of knowing if the install was unsatisfactory as the 'report' states.

@ Lazlo. Could you please photo shop and blank out the names that are on page 1 & 2. Not a big issue but it needs to be done.

Please could somebody blank the names for me as I don't know how to do that. Mind you it's a public document now it's been paid for and released to the customer so I guess it is up to the customer what they do with it?

Not wanting to provoke anyone though so if somebody wouldn't mind blanking it as asked and PM it to me that would be great?

Lazlo, leave it up as it is. It shows the clients name and the "engineers" (lol) name. I have not got a clue how to edit another persons PDF file. Not going to delete the pdf because this thread would be useless without it. Let it ride.

Is this actually genuine ? ... i mean apart from the huge monumental cockups even the small things like circuit description are ridiculous ... surely this has got to be someone taking the ****? Even my mother wouldn't write 0.63 as a circuit description lol.

I'm going to say it ... even a Electrical Trainee id expect better from. Like tel said, its actually the worst I've ever seen - thats why i presumed someone may be just having a laugh. I hope you've told the company to contact him so they can sack him. Its so bad its actually funny...not funny for the client obviously.

That's why I posted it as I couldn't believe what I was seeing, no wonder the customer couldn't understand it! Dr Spock would struggle with this one!

Not sure as it was 'managed' by some bigger service company with a call centre, I don't want to mention their name as it might get me banned or something....But I can post a bit from their website which is quite funny....
XXXXXXX began because we were tired of hearing about bad practices in the industry, and wanted to set up a company that sets a new standard. A company that does things right. This is an industry where others cut corners. We don't. Ever.

BG????

I don't care what tne mods or Dan think, this sort of "work" needs to be exposed and the numpties NAMED and SHAMED.

No todger pulling (not really into that), this is genuine. Just invoiced my time for reviewing it to client's parents who contacted me in the first place. They originally asked me to look at it and estimate ball park figures to have any remedial works carried out and if the place needed rewiring etc, just a rough idea based on the EICR and some estate agent photos. Her daughter is buying the property and was advised to have an EICR carried out so she knew what she was getting into. I did start to laugh as I looked at the first page...what a corker!

Taking the pee is that they were charged £250 for it! The EICR not my reviewing time!

... a monkey with a random number generator would have been more helpful!

They claim to be 'Authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority', a little strange for a company who deliver electrical, plumbing or other property maintenance services ... not according to the FCA apparently. It seems like the financial world is as full of people making profit out of the regulation of services as the world of electrical installation! Are they as 'toothless' I wonder.

Taken from the webpage.....

Someone's having one here... think I've read through that about 5 times now and surely... SURELY this can't be legit? If it is I think it must have been passed to an office junior to type up but I'm sceptical, Surely no-one's this daft???

Pure brilliance. It's the electricians equivalent of Monty Python. 60898....3871.....3036......nope, none of them it's a >200 OCPD....wtf and then some!!

Despite the ridiculously harsh codings the wording sounds like someone that understands.
I reckon the person who typed this up is not very good with computers.

What does these numbers mean on my mft?
dont know just put them in anywhere on the sheet
My favourite was number of poles =25
he is either in downtown Kraków or there is a Mercury arc rectifier in the house
quality like this costs don't ye know.

Personal favourite also, I find myself reading through it again and again and I don't know why!!

Didn't spot the 25 poles. Brilliant!

Cct 8 appears likely to be a lighting cct due to cable size. But then it's had r1rN done on it. Why......because of open CPC on same cct....who knows!

I am going to print this when I get a chance and have a proper chuckle.

... oh no it's not ... it's the number of electricity poles visible from the upstairs bedroom where the consumer unit is located!

Printed this off and had a better look at it... now granted there are large sections of the report not filled out, however, having looked at it I think this may not be as bad as I first thought it was.. it almost looks like someone's computer software they've used for this has made a mess because a lot of the readings etc are correct but just in the wrong place as if he's filled in the blank but the computer has it in a different section when printing.

There's no getting away from the fact that some of the terminology used is incredible and surely this person should have reviewed what they've just printed off before handing it over... but it is a possibility.

I think you're right about the computer software - it looks like some of the entries have gone out of step with the columns. But surely they would have noticed it at some point! Does also seem strange with the '12325' number, although that could well be the default entry which is pre-populated as a place-holder? Daz

Had a quick look on the interweb there typed in "eicr certificate" and clicked the first link and up came the very cert in this pdf.. downloaded it and the 'report number' on it? 12345... my impression is that someone who isn't very computer savy done this report.

They still issued it and charged the client £250. Nothing wrong with a hand written report if they didn't know how to work 'a computer'......

I don't think they have ever done an EICR before and tried to bungle through it. Wouldn't you need professional indemnity insurance to cover yourself should a legal issue arise from something untoward found in a report you had written and issued?

I wasn't disagreeing with that... in fact I agree 100% that it's a terrible attempt and someone should be ashamed to have issued this and charged someone for it.. I was simply trying to offer an opinion on what I'd found by printing the document in question out and having a good read through it.

We don't know the situation.. This person could have handed in a written report to their employer, been told come back with an electronic copy and been to proud to say they didn't understand how the software at their disposal worked

Anyway, like we both, along with everyone else agrees with... its a shocker and shouldn't have been issued
