Green Deal vote.

All of us from within the industry have seen so many changes and complex/unworkable legislation applied to our industry, it is a great shame that the Government have to be involved at all.
The reason for this post is I have been in correspondence with some of these, and would just like a little more ammunition

We now have the Green Deal looming, which many of us have been following, and sharing snippets of information, so, I thought we could have a simple vote on here, just to see if the industry believes it will work and be a beneficial for us all.

There are many good and experienced companies on here, who have added their skills and professionalism to the industry, and their input should acknowledged.

So without adding all the reasons for or against just a simple Yes or No, yes for the Green Deal will work, or No for it will fail (if it ever gets of the ground)

Yes with a few tweaks, like interest rates

No, and if you want to know why just look at the results of the GD pilot programmes. Even with 40% grants and zero interest loans as extra incentives a large % of people were just not interested. Take away the grants and add interest and it doesn't take a genius to predict what will happen next.

The only way GD will be a success (in DECC's terms) is if they force it on people, which could still happen. It will almost certainly be forced on social housing tenants.

I think the loss of face on the Government if (when) this flops mean I think your right Ted. They will do what is necessary to make it work.

Ted, you are like the Oracle !! I would like to know what the governments arguments were to proceed after this pilot. Pointless having a pilot if they don't listen to the results. It's utter madness ! I guess the solar PV consultation results would be contrived how they wish !!!
