Can anyone give me some good positive advice on doing a solar pv installation course?

I have been asked about 10-15 times whether i do it in the last 12 months and was just wondering wheter there was enough profit to be made to justify me doing it?

I have a mate who is a roofer so he could take care of that side of things.

I had a great crack doing mine, stayed in a nice hotel with a good bar and excellent local restraunts.

There thats positive!

Wish now I hadnt spent the money and had invested it in one of my other businesses.

Sorry thats negative but how I feel.

this industry is dying on it's feet. there are tooo many installers out there already chasing what is about to become a very diminishing amount of work.
If you want to do your own installations it will take about 6 months and several thousand pounds to get all your compliance stuff together and an assessment installation. If you want to sub for other people you will still need to invest in the specialist tooling and the rates are dropping through the floor.
At this momnet in time I wouldn't advise anyone to get into this business.

I tried to think of a positive and couldn't, as I am a realist....There are to many trying to get a meal from one loaf of bread and five fishes and greg dont do miracles.

Steve you have summed it up in your own post "asked 10 - 15 times in the last 12 months" and that will be down to the publicity over the recent changes no doubt about it. Our busiest time has been November 11 and February 12. We became accredited in June 10 and will be pulling out in April 12.

Seriously save your money there isn't a PV industry to talk about anymore. Boat has well and truly sailed.

Not sure that's the positive you are looking for but it is fact.

I would definitely suggest the solar panel courses if you are interested and you are willing to do that. There is a great future if you work hard. All the best for the future mate. Good luck.
