Background
I have a customer who has asked me to extend two existing phone lines into his new office at the end of the garage. The distance between the BT master boxes and the office slave points, is 20 meters. Note: There are no other loads connected!
I've checked that the 2 existing lines are just normal connections across 2 and 5 inside the master boxes, so I have extended both lines using one cable. The cable is good quality external grade single stranded 4 core ( 2 twisted pairs). I re-checked all the connections and they appear to right.
Here's the problem??
When a phone is connected directely into the BT boxes, everything works fine. However, when I connect a phone to either of the two extended slave points, then the ringer does not operate?? Everything else is ok and I can ring out normally from these new extension points.
Anybody out there knows whats causing this and how to fix quickly as customer want it working now!
