HI all,

Wondering if there are any VSAT engineers here, looking at a job but only pays 30K a year with travelling for 8 to 10 months of the year working in Africa , oil rigs, papa new guinea, asia. ect

the money isn't good but they are after a experienced sparky which i am but not in this area, im willing to do it for a couple of years to gain the experience and then hopefully come out of it and earn good money else where, or at 43 and i a bit to old for it.

is VSAT a hard sector to pick up or easy

Cheers
Grand

Depends what they want you to do, somebody has to mount the dish, align it and set it up. I guess there must be power requirements for the receiver and associated gear. If they want an electrician that's one thing if they want a satellite engineer , its a different job and skill set. I guess the travel would be the main issue as VSAT tends to go hand in hand with remote locations :-)
