Pricing up a job soon whereby I need to provide cooker supply to a kitchen "island".
The floor, sadly, is solid concrete and will have floor tiles over the top.
Not sure about the distance involved but I wanted to ask if anyone else had done something similar.
I'm thinking channel out the concrete with a view to the tiler either tiling directly over the top or screeding over the entire floor prior to tiling.

Any input appreciated.
PS
I'm hoping my SDS scutch chisel will be up to the channeling ??

channel the floor, but feed cable in pvc conduit.

if its a fair run, hire a skill saw.

If its going to be hard work
Get a builders moron ( they all have one ),they work well, cost little, and they believe you, when you tell them its a doddle
:)

Done a few of these... you've got a few options:

SWA
Copex
Conduit

Good luck with the chasing, u wanna pop down your local hire place and get out a hilti chaser (or similar) cost around £30 for the day but well worth it....

We use a chasing machine....2 diamond blades which cut 2 slots, then just chop out the middle.Quick, neat and connected to a vacum cleaner, absolutely no mess.......probably hire-able.

is there a sink in the island unit

Exactly what I ment about the wouldn't it be nice if moment always happens just as the job is on the finishing run

It's all very much in the planning phase at the mo, although fairly imminent if it's a goer. not sure about the sink at the mo, although I'm assuming Im going to be putting the circuit on rcd protection anyway.

Would a standard wall chaser be up to the channelling work if it's got the appropriate blades ?
My feeling is that it needs something heavier ?

So...
Not too much a problem about the channeling in the floor.
I can clip direct to the concrete floor because the level of the floor will be raised above it's present level due to the wet underfloor heating system. !

Looking like 10mm T&E at this rate due to the heated floor. !

Well as ever. The plan changed. !
Channel has been cut in the floor ready for electric under tile heating going over the top of my cable.

The floor max temp is only 30 deg c so I see no reason not use standard flat twin and earth. (derated capacity).

Anyone had a similar job ?

I would still tube it, as would most contractors in my area.
