Discuss Good Morning Thread - Come say good morning, tell us what you've got on today. :) in the The Electrical Exchange area at ElectriciansForums.net

We have this thread on TilersForums.com and it's just been restarted because the old thread had 20,000 replies and 500,000 views. And there were 700 pages. Started to lag a bit on slow connections.

I think we had a bash of this before, but I can't find the thread, so thought I'd start another one off.

If you have time in the mornings, come post in the thread before you head off to work, let us know what you've got on and what the weather is like in your area etc. Anything at all is fine. :)

Posts and likes get counted towards your total stats in this thread.

So GOOOD MORNING PEOPLE - WEATHER IS NICE TODAY IN STOKE. I'M THANKFUL IT'S FRIDAY, HAD A RUBBISH WEEK. THANK GOD IT'S OVER.

Morning all,

Well I’m on jury service the next 2 weeks, should be interesting.

Wet and miserable Monday morning here today. Glad I am not working outside. We put our Christmas lights up outside our house over the weekend so we are starting to feel festive :)

My sisters put their trees up this weekend??? I’m making my Mrs wait until at least the 1st until ours goes up. I’ve noticed she’s already started sneaking decorations into the lounge though??

Morning.
It’s fekken cold this morning and dog decides she wants a walk at 6am!!

I’ve got a little job this morning, new customers moving house soon, so have light fittings to take down and replace with pendants, and their garage to sort. He’s added taped joints all over the place. Looks like a rip out job.

Monday, I’ve got this to change....

Apparently, the little warning sticker has been there for past 5 years!

don't sling those old CUs. Lucien might be interseted in them for his museum. also, there is a trainee on the forum wants an old CU to make up a practice board at home.

Yes. I thought about keeping one back for the trainee, but delivery might be a problem.

I would think Lucian might already have these. Quite common makes of board.

I’ve got an old wooden fuseboard in my shed somewhere. I’ll have to see if it’s still got all the bits.

All gone a bit quiet here...
Off to that screwup place shortly to pick up some PLUMBING bits! Some waterworks to extend at the men's Shed place I help out at, then some minor works at neighbour's flat, again. See post #67...an update on the "widowmaker"...it turned out that the 13A plug actually powered the wall-socket, sort of like an extension lead...so, bell wire and exposed choc-blocks with mains power, under a carpet strip...
Finally today I am fixing a table lamp in the common entrance hall. This was kindly provided by a neighbour (the same one as the dodgy extension) to illuminate a table in the hall. It's a Class 1 brass lamp, but he needed a longer flex to reach the nearest socket, so took the plug off, bent the earth wire out of the way and extended the flex with 2 core, twisting the wires together and bound the "joint" with leccy tape...this in an area open to all the residents, cleaners, visitors etc.
After tomorrow I am taking the rest of the year off!
Oh, and I have bought and wrapped all my Christmas presents...
and the recipient of the Wera advent calendar is very happy!

I was finishing off a kitchen rewire this morning. Why on earth do people decide that they want a new kitchen fitted before Xmas.... or move house.... it’s not the time of year. And I’m pressured to get it all finished so they’ve got turkey cooking equipment.

Which brings me to the issue I had.
Connected up their hob and oven, turned it on tested.... was on 5 minutes and the rcbo tripped. Tried again and it held.
Then Mrs customer informs me the oven has been bought second hand and had been sitting in the garage for 2 years waiting to get round to changing the kitchen.

I think it was just a little damp in the oven. Working away fine now.

Today, I mostly be resting \, later duties include queuing in the Tesco post office to buy stamps for the myriad of Christmas Cards, Mrs Pete 999 has dutifully written in Her best handwriting, to dwindling array of Friends and Relations, getting fewer every year unfortunately, not sent one to Megawatt, I will personally email him closer to the magic day.
Return Home to a nice cup of Tea and scoff the pecan slices purchased in Tesco's Bakery, following that I will watch the History channel accompanied by a bottle of "Casillero del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon 2018", what happens after that? is anyones guess. have a nice day ya'all curtesy Megawatt.

Today Wenesday, I be mostly hovering, washing up changing The Duvet and all that goes with it, putting up the washing line and hanging the used bedding out to air, making Cups of tea etc, quite what this avo will bring God only knows, although it could have something to do with some Sauvignon Cabernet. but I'll wait and see on that score, oh and of course checking in on here, as I aint got nothing to do, unlike you lot.

Afternoon people. :)

Just been carol service at a local church where my 8 year old sang. Bloody lovely. Got the Christmas feeling now. :D

Check you out Pete! - Can image you in your cleaning-up-pinny lol :D

Just hoovered through and then let the dogs out. Did that in the wrong bloody order!

Not just the Pinny Dan them sexy head scarfs the Ladies like to wear to cover my dwindling Barnet

Dentist for me too, at 8.30am this morning, followed by some time in the hygienist's chair to get my remaining teeth polished up for Christmas...all painless, I'm glad to say.
Put the finishing touches to the heat-tape installation at the Shed, to be tested tomorrow.
Early finish, so just catching up on emails and booking flights for the coming year. Crikey, flights have gone up! Usual dilemma...buy now in case they go up even more, or wait and see?
Booked a return trip from Spain for end of october as it was a bargain...the only one I found. Now wondering if it's too early for a small libation....hmmm, 3pm...perfect!

Morning,

Got an EICR on today, then that’s me finished for Christmas. ??❄️???

Morning all,
Less than a week to go for the big day. I'm still not finished presents wise. Ahhhh!

Morning,

Got an EICR on today, then that’s me finished for Christmas. ??❄???
Well done mate. You'll be done before the van engine has cooled down.

Looks like I could be done even faster. It’s a vacant property and the electricity board have pulled the fuse and sealed it back up, so no power. I’m glad the estate agents let me know. ?

I've got a few emails to sort.

I need tile my bloody bathroom at some point but keep putting it off. Tiles are gathering dust on the landing now! Lol

gotto look at a suspected oven element bown later. meanwhile refitting tailgate trim and panel following fitting reverse camera t'other day. been too cold so far.

Staying in today to await deliveries that should have arrived days ago...
A good time to sort out tool bags, if I can be bothered...

Good morning all, today, I mostly be fighting hoards of irate Mums, Dads and Kids fighting their way to get out of the Super Market I'm being dragged though by Her in doors.

Pete 999, you will end up with 2 full trolleys at the checkout, piled high with stuff you don't really need, including tons of extra food:
1. Because people might drop in over the festive period
2. The shops will be closed for max 2 days next week
3. There's half-price offers on a leg of lamb, a ham, a joint of beef, a side of smoked salmon...all of which you will find when you get home, have a use-by date of this coming Sunday!
Good luck!

Morning all,

Today I’ll be traveling back up to the midlands and engaging in festivities with family for the weekend. ????

I did the mad rush thing this morning looking for presents for my wife.
I swear I’d already bought her a card...

Anyway. Car park, popping my shopping in the passenger door of the van, when I somehow managed to close the door on my fingertip. Squished the nail sideways on.... got a blood stain under the nail and it’s hurting like a ******

I’m certain the other fingers are going colder.

?:ambulance::mad:

Good morning, @everyone.
it’s pretty windy here, so my hanging decorations outside will be taking a beating.
already have one 22m string of lights with a couple of broken sections. Just have to cut it down a bit for next year.

Took no.2 to a special ice skating disco last night. 10 of her pals were there, so she was a happy bunny.

whoever at the rink thought that was a good plan really needs to read a H&S book.
The rink is essentially a large shed with 3 rows of 7 low bay mercury type fittings.... some have been altered to LED lamps.
Perfect when all 21 are on, but even at the regular skate sessions they turn off the outer rows... still not had a reason other than, “it saves money”

Someone, or the whole committee, at one of their planning meetings decided.....”you know what, for Xmas, why don’t we have a night time disco on the ice?.... we’ll turn off ALL the lights and replace with flashing coloured lights so no one can see what they’re doing at all!”

risk assessment:
Some inexperienced users..... check
Low ambient temperatures...... check
Sharp blades on feet...... check
Very solid floor surface..... check
Sufficient illumination?..... nah, it’ll be alright!
Fog machine and strobe?.... mmm maybe not.

I’ve mentioned before the normal track list at a skating session, but disco stu on the decks last night was something else.
Starts off with some “current” and “modern” stuff from around 1994..... techno and dance music at that..... took me back to my yoof.
Drops in the occasional heavy bass dance remix of Louis capaldi, Ed Sheeran or “old town road”

an hour or so in, stu must be lagging. He brings in the staple holiday park, guaranteed to get people going, tracks.... “5678”, “cotton eye joe” and “the Casper slide” .... which is not a good idea.... on ice.... in the near dark with everybody trying to “jump to the left... slide to the right”....
“Tubthumping” comes on.... which I feel is almost inevitable on an ice rink...”I get knocked down, but I get up again”... or in some cases... try to get up again, slip down again..grab nearest person, pull them over... etc

Its on again today as a regular session, but I think once a week is enough for me.

Early morning cuppa ,turned into an arc fault detection lesson.
--JWs words still rattling in my head--
Re boiling Murphy Rich (20-ohms cold) kettle ...
Loud hand clap bang as ,shuts off -
(It has been "steaming on a little recently") ...
Time for a new kettle soon !
Triggered 32A MCB , 13A fuse in tact .
Assuming magnetic part tripped -series becomes parallel Arc ?

Wheel painting with No.1 son,PTFE pads routered for giant oak table legs...repairs to 1940's Webley,re-organise log pile, nephew's headlamp bulb (there,i said it...) and various visits from pals on wheely machines...

A normal start to a year? all the best to you all ???

Tougher than a badgers ar@&. Failed big time. Customer couldn’t understand as the last guy passed it. He’s unregistered unqualified etc

It IS a caravan hook up??!?
Bleeding hell. How do you tow a van up over there? Or you standing next to a dual carriageway just out of shot?

Simple, use a landrover.

But not mine, its currently doing great work as a garden ornament. I'll get it fixed eventually though, I only took it off the road for a month or two to do some work on it.......... 2 years ago!

Every hook up had a twig (rod) next to it doing absolutely nothing. last sparky said to customer that he’d converted the site to TT but it was still on TNS with those added twigs ????????
