PUB... Cooker Circuit ?

Well, its not actual a cooker circuit but didnt know how to title it.

Its a circuit to a long plate warmer thing.. being used for a sunday carvery. Its 6.3 kw

There is a Submain in the pub kitchen, with few sockets, lights and extractor. it looks like the submain is fed by 10mm swa, 125a Main switch, with NO RCD protection.

Theres a spare way in the board so i planned to put this new circuit on a 32a MCB using 6mm T&E. This will be trunked down the surface of the wall prob 4ft from the bottom of the Submain. Then into isolator then onto a the 230v socket.

Am i right in saying this circuit will not need RCD protection as its surface mounted? is there a reg im forgetting?

I think because it is commercial premises there is no need to rcd protect if the staff are competant people

The circuit is not for sockets not exceeding 20 amps
Its not buried cable less than 50mm without mechanical protection
Its not in a bathroom
Its not a TT system. Is it?
Its not mobile equipment not exceeding 32 amp for outdoors


I think thats most of them so,
If you compare the circuit to the above,I would say no RCd required



The instructed person get out clause is mainly used for the 20 amp socket item for commercial/industrial situations

Its a soket outlet above 20a (Being 32a) So is that NO RCD ?
I dont think its a TT, Ill double check. If it is a TT then it should have RCD protection no matter what ? right

I am assuming the existing DB in the kitchen is single phase

I think I would be checking the sub main calcs for an additional load of this size may be worth putting a clamp ammeter on the sub main to check existing load

Put it on rcd but if the say that they are skill or instructed and they sign some paperwork whick you would draw up and keep a coppie then you will not have to install rcd.

This is what nic said to me because i work in industriall and he said i should cover myself for no rcd protection.
