OK all - here's the scenario I had today. What paperwork do you fill in?!

Existing installation, single dwelling. Incomer had been fed from an intake elsewhere > RCD > SWA > Tails > CU Mainswitch > 16th board.

So.....intake is moved to be closer..... intake > Tails > RCD as replacement for CU mainswitch.

Apart from having removed 20ish meters of 25/3 SWA, the circuit is exactly the same as it was before. Exactly the same characteristics except for having lost some cable resistance.

It's not therefore a new circuit, not a CU change, no changes to bonding/earth.

Minor works and not worth the £1.50?

Re: So you mess about with incomers, tails and CU's - but do you have to Part P notif

Surely one of the cores of the SWA was the earth? You have therefore affected the Zs for all the circuits (improved them I would hazard a guess).

Yes and yes (and yes). But the 'circuit design' is as before. Hence a minor works with a new Ze value?

That sounds reasonable. What about the RCD though, that'd need its characteristics recording somewhere if it's new.

Nope, it's the same RCD just taken out of the box feeding the SWA (not quite sure why that was done!) and moved into the main board in place of the old DP main switch.

(So yes, the original 16th ed RCD is effectively redundant and there's no discrimination etc etc etc.... but there wasn't before if you think about it).
