Will you still work on a roof if it's icy? Just wondering if anyone had any strategies to deal with early morning frost. Might it be possible to spread salt/grit/sand across the roof surface before going on? Working from roof ladders with a hook over the ridge might be safer but limit manoeuvrability.

Any thoughts?

Nothing is worth the risk. We worked through last year's snow by waiting until about 10 to get on the roof. The sun had melted the ice by then and it was safe to get on it. It takes longer and you might have to extend over 2 days for the roof work but imo it's not worth doing anything else.

Just make sure you clear the scaffold. You don't need much light on the roof to clear the tiles but just be extra careful.

Turn the boards over on the scaffold and don't go on the tiles until the frost clears. And if you have a custard like we had last Christmas who expects you to be able to work on the roof while it's covered in snow (at least they had plenty of insulation but i doubt it was c rated) tell them to **** off, it worked for me.

Being an office dweller and only ever being at risk from a paper cut, i would still say not worth the risk!!

I thought with the global warming the climate in the UK would be positively Mediterranean by now :)
