Hello!

I have been asked to put some cavity floor power sockets in to an office which is being refurbished.

Right at the last minute they said they would like two RJ45 sockets to every desk which comes to a total of 80 RJ45 sockets.

Is it the same principle as a home network? One cable individually run for every RJ45 socket? I am just checking because that is a lot of cable. I am guessing(and hoping) they are getting a proper network company to connect it all up at the end.

Thanks in advance,

Ty

One cable for each run back to cab

Number them 1- 80, connect them up and test then let out guy do the rest.

Yes 1 x 4 pair cable per point. It nice to have the cable in bunches of 8 at the patch panel end. Mark each cable 1 to 80 but then separate them into bunches 1 to 8, 9 to 16 , 17 to 24 and so on that way when the patch panel is being terminated it won't take forever to find each cable cable and the guy terminating the panel may then not shout at you :)

Good comment flanders. I'd never have thought of that.

We used to do it when we pulled in cables for the data guys I don't think they like it you leave 1000 cables on the coms room floor just marked 1 to 1000 :0 By the way the reason why it don it bunches of 8s is because most patch panels come in sizes of 16 , 24 or 48

till the sillimeter gestapo get involved, he it'll be 10,20,30.

leave plenty of spare , a nice maintenance loop in the server room for any changes like future cab upgrades relocations etc, not nice doing a consolidation joint on lots of cables if short in the future.
same at the floor boxes , alot of these lift out tiles can get lifted out and relocated to allow for slight furniture changes, a coil of cat5/6 can be a life saver
