Extending an electrical outlet

Hi all, new member here.

Re doing my bathroom in a new flat and want to move a fused switch connection which powered a rubbish heater fan (mounted high on the wall), to lower down so I can use it to power an electric towel radiator. Basically what's the correct way to extend the wire about 3-4 feet down, some kind of connection block? The wall is plasterboard.

Any help appreciated

The correct way would be to get an electrician to carry out this work

Presumably the switched fused connection unit is outside of the bathroom and it's just an outlet plate in the bathroom? In which case it's quite a simple case of testing the circuit to ensure complies with bs7671, confirming the adequacy of all safety measures, replacing the outgoing cable from the sfcu and then testing and issuing the appropriate certificate in accordance with bs7671.

Isn't it true that any electrical work in a bathroom is notifiable? and be protected by an RCD?

No, as far as part P is concerned the special location is only a zone around the bath or shower.

Just checked myself Dave the Regs do substantiate what you say "within zones" seems to be the buzzword

Part P only defines one zone where work is notifiable, see my post above.

I haven't checked to see whether this aligns with the zones in bs7671 in any way.

I find the easiest way to avoid confusion is to just not do domestic work
