Discuss new supply been put today to new building ,NO EARTH in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Earth won't come out the meter. I've had few one upgrades where they never punch the hole out for earth at the cut out, if the fuse fell out you would see the n-e link , is the head marked one or cne earth?

The mind boggles.

Mine's Boggled as well.

Must be an age thing,

Read "New supply",, Thinks DNO must have have test cert of some sort (Don't do domestic but read it on here)

"Only Brown / Blue out of meter",, Thinks supplier must have fitted meter, so consumer unit must be in place
????

There are times when this forum needs an insane questions section then a filter built in to exclude them from appearing in the new posts lists

HANG ON....this doesn't make sense. The DNO don't do meters, they just do heads, yes? And the meter fitter won't normally just put a tails in and energise them without knowledge of what's on the other side of them, nor (in my experience) will they fit a meter without fitting the tails in as they like to seal it all up...... so, there must have been a set of tails left there by the OP ready for the meter fitter (along with some sort of assurance of isolation downstream). Where was the installers earthing conductor???

If you don't bring them a cable then they can't fit it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its nearly as bad as watching my girlfriends 16 year old son cutting an unsliced loaf of bread earlier but holding the cut slice!!!!

With 24hrs training and registration on a Bakers scam, he would be an ideal candidate to be running the instore Bakeries for a Major supermarket.
Experience in button pressing would reduce the training significantly.

My thoughts in post 23.

Identifying service heads, metering and earthing arrangements was obviously day 18 of the 17 day course or Monday of week 6 of the five week course

or

Is this now an additional City & Guilds course with it's own course number that you need if you are arranging for new supplies or metering to be installed
