hi i'm on my second year of college and have been working for a year... and am just wondering about the minor works what the law is?

what small work can i do and not certificate? as a friend of family would like some extra sockets put in and i am unaware of the law regarding me doing it. i consider myself competent to do the work and test it... do i have to certificate the work basically?

one is chasing out the brick, and one is in plaster board just fishing the cable over to where she wants the socket

I'm likely to just keep them all on the ring but yeah i would be doing one outlet per spur if i wasn't keeping it a ring main...

yeah nick that has definitely cleared up the part p side of it!!!

So do i legally need to do a minor works certificate for adding in a socket or changing a light fitting etc? and if i do i presume i cannot do that as i am only in my second year of college?

p.s sorry you lot must get asked questions like this all the time, but i looked for about an hour in the other threads and couldn't really find to much :)

Not often mentioned, but do you have any kind of liability insurance in case you accidentally do any unforseen damage to the property? Unlikely, I know, but might be worth thinking about.
