Hi everyone first time asking on this so sorry if it’s been asked before. I’ve been asked to carry out a rewire in a private house and I’ve recently started my own company so I’m not registered with NICEIC or SELECT as I’m in Scotland. I’ve read conflicting reports that I can and can’t provide the electrical installation certificate required for this job and was just seeking clarification. Thanks in advance

So far as Building Standards are concerned if it is notifiable work e.g. needing a warrant you have to be NIC, SELECT or JIB (proof attached to cert) and have completed and passed the Scottish Building Standards course.

Get registered. Mandatory licensing is coming to Scotland. Far to many Dangerous Dave’s and Brian Bodgers out there. If I had my time again I’d go with SELECT. Really helpful and more personable than NIC. They allowed me to join in there webinar discussions during lockdown which was really kind of them.
