Domestic Sewage Pump!

Evening All

I have a domestic sewage pump to connect up later on this week. Its a 3 float system(stop, Start,Assist) and has two pumps. The pumps are only supposed to run one at a time in sequence to lengthen their lifespan. They will run together if the assist float comes in to play. Its a honeywell panel and seems to be well made, the issue i have is that the pumps seem to have a 3 pin plug(moulded) to them already with a long length of flex. This either means i have to fit a single socket beneath the panel to plug in the motor or i was thinking simply cut it off and wire it directly in to the panel as it would save time, hassle and a pointless connection point. Only trouble is its an expensive mistake! Any advice?

I would suggest leaving the plugs on as it's a domestic installation. In the event of a pump fault one would want to be able to exchange them easily without powering down the panel and without non-electricians poking around inside it.

If you chop the plug top off, the warranty will be void.?

Quick call to the manufacturer and they told me they only put the plugs on for test purposes. I was going to chop em anyway as someone could mistakenly disconnect the pumps in order to plug in the lawnmower, or children could easily mess around with them. The instructions are always a pain with these things so it took me awhile. Heres the finished article....

I'd say you made a very good job of that mate, it makes a nice change to do something a bit different and make you think a bit.

Cheers mate, i enjoyed the install as i had to think a bit more... unlike the standard RCD fault scenario...

Looks very tidy,but a couple of years will crucify that steelwork above.

I have fitted many of these,and the only items which remain serviceable long-term,are plastic and 316
