Putting 10mmsq 4C SWA through a wall - what products are there for sealing wall.

Hi guys, i am working on a site where there is a GRP "hut" where all the plant is where i am working. the client is providing the power from their local DB but to get the cable into the hut we need to go through the wall, this is contructed of a GRP, plywood, foam insulation etc - thickness about 80mm. I was going to put a steel plate onto the wall and use a YY type gland so the SWA can pass straight through. This has been rejected. Is there some product out there for passing SWAs through a wall where it can be sealed and is mechanically strong.

On what grounds was your plan rejected. If it's a wooden wall surely you just need a sleeve of some sort and seal it when the cable is installed??

Plastic adaptable box on the outside silicon on the back of it same on the inside.
Bolt them together thro the wall 25mm pvc conduit between the boxes.
Gland SWA into the bottom of the outside box, same inside, connectors in the inside box.

We usually put a sleeve through the wall in the form of plastic water pipe. Then make good around it and inside between the sleeve and the cable with firestop.

Use a 25mm Galv back entry end box terminate the SWA into the spout, conduit through the wall.
Drill 2holes in the back of the box for fitting. Silicon the back of the end box prior to fixing back.
Dont forget the gasket and lid.

Thanks guys, i only had it second hand from the electrical eng. who was doing the plate for me that it was rejected. We have used pipe before but thought the plate idea was a better mechancial and looking solution. I thought there must be some "super" solution that has been invented that i wasn't aware of.

So i think its either :
Pipe and silicon or plate and gland,
As there are going to be now three cables coming through i am leaning towards the pipe, even though it will not look so nice as its going to be easier

Should have mentioned the SWA needs to go through un-glanded as its got to run full length inside the cabin and then be terminated onto a TP board as its the supply cable. I need the SWA protection for all the route inside and don't fancy terminating it twice (well i wont be terminating it as its the clients job) but i guess he wont want that.

Can you run the cable outside of underneath the cabin to below the CU, and vertically up behind the CU. you would then be able to use the method I said previously.

Not very often you have to run cable inside cabins.

Thanks, i will offer this as well. On the inside i have tray already fixed for other cables and i left the top part of the tray for them to install theirs but am happy to get them to run around the outside then come in at the board. The cabin is on a concrete slab so the wall is the only way in, really.

I found out just a few emails ago that there is a separate 16mmsq earth cable coming through and an alarm signal cable going out - so 3 cables now in all.
