i am registered with NICEIC as a domestic installer but am re wiring a pub at the moment. today a building control guy told my customer that all the sockets in the pub were installed incorrectly as they are not 450mm from the floor! is this correct as i assumed this didnt apply in commericial premises and its an existing building. need to be sure b4 confronting this fella:mad:

thay are a law unto themselves
only applies to new builds

Is it a rewire ? if so , you can use existing conduit and boxes

Then you should be ok mate,,as far as i know its just a new build that has to complie with part m ?

well...in the living area above the pub would be classed as a domestic dwelling, but im not sure down in the public area would be? whats he said about smokes and emerg lighting ( if any) ?

also part p only applies if the pub power supply is supplying the accomodation above the pub,ie same meter

i can give you 2 prime examples where weve been pulled up:
isolators above work tops for low level sockets in cupboards.
hoods for fire rated downlights - said to stop condensation
