Hi all

I was in need of some 2.5mm twin and earth for a spur, was passing tool station and called in.

Got Twin & Earth Cable (6242Y) Grey 2.5mm2 x 25m -

But when looking at the cable its got written on it: 2.5mm + 1.5mm.

So it looks like the live and neutral is 2.5mm but the earth is 1.5mm?

Is this still ok to use as I though all cable cores had to be 2.5mm?

Thanks in advance

This is a standard cable construction, the earth only has to withstand a fault current long enough to operate the protective device which is in a fraction of a second.. the L/N cores carry the working energy of the circuit.

Its saves on copper hence cost so yes the correct cable.
