was looking into buying a kitchen lately and visited howdens they told me i had to be in the trade to get any discount but they could price up for my builder and he could then tell me how much.
this is a way so that kitchen fitters can put there own mark up i take it.
was just wondering what electrical distributors offer the same discounts to trade and if any of these can beat the local diy shops screw fix etc.
who do you use and why?
i live newport gwent area.

been to wilts for some swa, got a catalogue to compare prices for other stuff but catalogue had no prices? am i misssing something? do i have to ring up to get a quote on every product? or get a account with them ?
are they competitive?

They have "spotlight" with prices but you need to have an account for the best discounts. They will do cash sales but accounts get the best discounts AFAIK

Some years ago I wanted some kitchen units for my own house from Howdens & although my business was electrical / plumbing / heating - ANYTHING but kitchen fitting - and they knew this, they let me open an account with them so I could get my kitchen units at a discounted price. ;)

I have a Howdens account as well. Opened it for some HMO work I had at the time and they were the only company I could find to supply the right sized fire doors I needed

Not sure it matters what trade you are as long as you are a trading company / one man band

neweys have prices as do Electric center both have trade discounts dependant on your terms n conditions Also if your a BIG user you get preferential treatment and dependant on anual spend there may be a rebate of some sort
Why should the joe on the street be able to get stuff cheaper than trade?? Screwfix ect do however sell some MK stuff cheaper than most wholesalers due to their buying power
