Hi guys,

I'm looking to do some price work for various jobs on a commercial project, for example replacing fluorescent light fittings to led on ceiling grid/some on conduit. (quantity in the hundreds) what do you think be a fair amount of time to allow per fitting? would 1 hour be too much to ask? 45 mins? as there will probably be roughly 10 fittings a circuit so that would cut down the isolation/testing time.

factors to allow for:

getting kits to area of building ( very large commercial property)
isolation of circuit
remove old fitting and dispose
install new fitting
test circuit
clean room

Also i know the jobs has been priced using a schedule of rates, how can i get myself a copy of this without spending a small fortune?

The time taken will be very much dependent on the site size and working practices and location of fittings. You may also need to account for access to the fittings, e.g. if they are at high level and you need to complete a high level work permit, get an authorisation for the use of cherry picker/time taken to build scaffolding, etc.

I would not worry about the schedule of rates as your price is what you can afford to charge not what someone else can afford so it is not worth pricing to another rate if you are losing money.

I would also tend to specify a minimum number of fittings per job as you cannot operate on one fitting per day.
