Hiya lads, hoping somebody can help.

CEF appear to have disappeared off the face of the earth. After several attempts to try and get in touch with our contacts there we aren't getting any responses.

So it looks like we've lost them as a sponsor for whatever reason.

That leaves us with what I'd see as the most valuable spot on the forum available and up for grabs. We're looking for a national electrical supplier, or or offline, to fill the spot.

I'd like to think between us all we have a contact or two. Rather than me emailing a dozen firms and going down that route, I wondered if we could use the forum to find a firm.

I'd want one that gets involved in competitions, has good lead times on stuff, brilliant prices, lots of offers, that kinda jazz.

Can anybody help?

Either give me a shout in here or get them to email me on [email protected] or something and we'll start a convo with them and see where it takes us. :)

Thanks in advance :D

EDIT April 2020:

Just thought I'd bump this up again. Could do with a couple more sponsors on board during these dodgy times we're in. Any help would be appreciated. Perhaps not an electrical supplier perse but perhaps some other company that would benefit in starting a partnership with the forum.

Midshires in Northampton might be worth a shout, if you want I could pop down tomorrow and sound out the MD

Hi Dan - fwiw the I use on line most often is Discount Electrical. Don't know anyone there, but the products, service and pricing has always been good.

Electrical Supplies from Electrical Wholesaler - Discount Electrical - http://www.discount-electrical.co.uk/?gclid=CJm8yI_D3dECFYM4GwodI_MF0Q

+1 for discount electrical aka Shop4.

Only negative they have been caught by our honey pot spam trap a few times sending unsolicited emails to addresses we don't use (honey pot addresses)

I never realised CEF were a sponsor thought it was still that "Northern Irish" company!

Hi Dan, although we're a test equipment specialist I'd agree with Wilko. We've used Discount Electrical for a few odd bits that we've supplied in addition to test equipment and have found their prices and lead times decent. Hope this helps

Awesome thanks guys. Keep the suggestions coming. :)

CEF are not the company they once were.

What about Yess, although I've never dealt with them, they're one of the only other ones that covers NI as well as the mainland.

Not overly surprised by CEF - they are difficult to deal with at the best of times.

Wilts / Senate / Newlec are under going a major rebranding exercise - so maybe give them try?

Hello Dan,

I will try to get email from the bloke who delivers our supplies to site next time he's in. They are
Edmundson Electrical
PO Box 1, Tatton Street
Knutsford, Cheshire
WA16 6AY
and they are great, only maybe too pricey, but that's not my money spent, so I'm alright with it for now.

Another vote for TLC. Quick, good stock, prices up front rather than a random number generator. They are south-based (no branches near me) but never had any problems with mail order. Have provided decent technical response when requested, and seems to be run by human beings. All good.

Hi Dan,

Not sure about a top spot but we at vintagelights.co.uk might be interested in being a site sponser. We sell lots of lighting components, cables, lamp holders, ceiling roses etc. Obviously we are more niche than a full on electrical supplier.

Hi Dan,

I support the suggestions above but my son has just started as an account manager at CEF, I'll ask if he can find out anything.
Hope he is a better choice than the ones they have in place already dk.

I know they aren't purely electrical but what about Screwfix/Electrifix. Always have what you want or need or can get it in 24 hours, and the other side has anything else you might need at decent reasonable prices, and you can order on line and collect or have delivered.

Balls I've got, Crystal their not!!

With what they pay their staff, don't hold your breath, and they wouldn't entertain have the Professional Electrician/Builder/Plumber sited in Electrifix for reasons only known to them. Mind you they are in the same conglomerate as B&Q. Maybe they would sponsor the forum.

I agree with making contact with Electricfix. Have you thought about Rexel as they have taken over a number of companies recently.

How about Medlock Electrical Distributors?

Hi Dan,

We use Rexel Senate branches around the country, and a national is probs a good suggestion for the forum with members from all parts of the country. However, I'd personally say we get better support from Electric Centre (part of Edmundson's group) for product knowledge, price and service so poss another one worth trying.
TLC are certainly good for the more unusual items needed once in a blue moon.
Good luck,
Howard.

TLC is my best supplier.. only gripe I have is they only deliver to my area once a week but can use Parcelforce if necessary.
Others I use are CEF and Denmans. Cef not brilliant on prices but delivery and customer service great!

Liddell Electrical Distributors are a supplier that are also based in NI as Century Electrical Wholesale, and ROI as National Electrical Wholesale.

Don't know much about the non NI ones, but CEW are the best here that I've found.

Our company uses denmans but not sure how far they cover. We just go where we aren't on stop haha

Rexel own loads of smaller companies like Denmans, Wilts, electribase? Rexel are French I think, very money driven like YESS - spreadsheets, accountants etc.

Personally I don't think screwedfix et al as a sponsor puts over the right image for the forum. They're glorified DIY sheds that don't supply lots of commercial/industrial materials. Fine if you're a Bran the bodger, house bashing. All that notwithstanding don't screwedfix have their own forum anyway?

My mate who was a CEF manager has just retired. However when I asked him about the forum he had no knowledge his own employer was a sponsor.

Given the love hate relationship between CEF and YESS wouldn't YESS be the obvious 'target'?

Spoke to my new CEF manager today. Apparently CEF marketing is undergoing a big change. Apparently they have 'poached' the head of marketing from Screwedfix. Might explain the lack of communications from them.

Apparently CEF are bringing out a big glossy catalogue soon (sounds like the YESS thing). If your an account holder expect useless drivel coming through the door offering great prices on loads of stuff you don't want!!

MIDSHIRES ELECTRICAL WHOLESALERS AND LIGHTING CROW LANE INDUSTRIAL ESTATE.

Hi Everyone

For long I have been looking for an electrical forum where i can get Concepts related to electrical cleared.

Primarily to better understand the world of electricity and understand the difference between myths and reality.

Would this be the right forum or is it a Professionals only forum ?
