Just after a bit of help with filling out the certificate for a Periodic Test and Inspection.

Using a Hospital as an example where you have alot of sub mains, feeding sub mains etc.

The sections im struggling on are:

Supply Characteristics and Earthing Arrangements + Main Switch or Circuit Breaker.

As its a sub main fed from another distribution board, which is also fed elsewhere, then where would you class the origin as?

Im assuming the Main switch would just be the isolator on the panel being tested and not the isolator/fuse which feeds that panel??

Where would I find details for Supply Protective Devices Characteristics?

Supply will be as intake,
Origin from MCCB board,suppling sub main,
Supply protective device MCCB / Over current device

Would the supply protective device be the fuse in the board that supplies sub-main?
 
Hi mate,

The way I understand it is:

Supply Characteristics and Earthing Arrangements - All details taken from 'origin' of installation (regardless of size and number of sub-boards).
'Origin' being where the supply enters the building and is connected to the installation.

The only one you may have leeway on is the 'Main Switch or Circuit Breaker'.

As this is giving you the option, it may be acceptable to enter the characteristics of the MCB supplying the sub main, or even the main switch in the sub board - rather than the 'main switch' at the origin.

The 'Supply Protective Device' will be as it says..... 'Supply'...... so the cut-out.

As far as I know, if we're taking the terminology literally, then we have a 'supply' and an 'installation'.

The 'supply' is the DNO side and the 'installation' is our side.

As its a sub main fed from another distribution board, which is also fed elsewhere, then where would you class the origin as Origin is origin, main intake.?

Im assuming the Main switch would just be the isolator on the panel being tested and not the isolator/fuse which feeds that panel?? As long as it's not under the "origin" heading then yes. Theres usually another part for detailing the sub-main to the particular DB protection.

Where would I find details for Supply Protective Devices Characteristics If they're not visible at the origin or noted on any schedules, then you'll need to contact the supplier.?
