Hi all,

Just a few bits I would like to brush up on and find good practice, all from a domestic point of view;

1. Is diversity applied before selecting cable and grouping factors etc?
2. What's are the regs regarding 230v and 12v lighting, where is 12v required?
3. Have seen on a job a jb that will not be accesible, its in a stud wall that will be tiled, as far as I was awaware this is a no, no. Is there anyway of putting a join in that is suitable?

Thanks all.

1 yes
2 depends on requirements and locations
3 Wago's or crimps or solder all in suitably enclosed

Lighting in question is 6xdownlights in kitchen, ground floor. Thanks for other feedback.

Regarding question 1, I'm assuming that you then make all calculations using the load figure once diversity applied and not the original load.

It's down to personal preference - 12v downlighters usually have a transformer right next to them so it doesn't make a lot of difference. Personally I prefer 230v because there isn't a transformer to go wrong.
ELV (12v) lights need to be used in certain situations such as underwater.

The Ib value you use to calculate the cable size takes diversity into account.
