Hi all,

Very basic info, can give more detail when we meet.

I have a VW T5 that has been professionally converted prior to me buying it.
We have been away 4 times so far but always had 240volt hook up and not had any problems.

This weekend we have had to use the onboard leisure battery and consumer panel for the first time, I was advised to keep the panel switch to "van" and avoid using the "car" selector as it will run the van battery down.

We were only at the end of the first day and the l.e.d was showing a red light and low.
In the morning we woke up and all the batteries were flat and the van had to be jump started.

We only ran a 12 volt cool box and a small light on the nightime. After speaking to a fwe people camped around me they all said to get it checked out so here i am.

I need someone to test my system and advise me how it works for future trips.

Many Thanks

Jason.

Hi dude, there are fellas on here, who are more than competent,on systems such as yours, myself included, but finding one local and willing, may be tricky.

A bit of a search via your vehicle model specific forums, may prove more fruitful.

Try to discover what system you have, and how it should function,in order to furnish a prospective engineer with as much information as possible.

The use of your leisure battery should not have depleted the vehicle battery. If two batteries are required, you should have two leisure batteries, and the correct set-up to charge/monitor them.

I come across these conundrums, frequently,on vehicles such as your own,and large, expensive horseboxes. I am astounded at the fact that some of these "high-end" vehicles have space-age everything, excepting the stored power and back-up systems, which are cobbled together using split charge relays from the sixties, and no provision for when the systems are strained....which they invariably are

Feel free to ask any advice, based on what you can learn from further investigation. Good luck.
